Shoreline – the World’s first Carbon Reductive™ Development
October 18th, 2009 Posted in NewsShoreline is the world’s official Carbon Reductive™ development.
The phrase, created by Phoenix Trinity’s Managing Director Simon Hinton (who is also CEO of the Carbon Reductive Company Ltd) has trademark pending, and is now being used generally to describe net CO2 emissions below zero.
It is possible that there have been houses in the past that have net CO2 emissions below zero, but the point of calling ourselves Carbon Reductive™, (ie pro-actively offsetting significantly more CO2 than has been created) is the conscious action and naming so described, and represents a real paradigm shift. The purpose of the ‘world first’ tag is to promote the concept of going beyond cleaning up current CO2 emissions, to clearing up past emissions and leading the way, something we at Phoenix Trinity have chosen to do. The intention is to encourage other developers and businesses to adopt the Carbon Reductive™ concept and to go beyond simply being Carbon Neutral.
The Carbon Reductive Company Ltd was set up to guide businesses and companies towards the process of going Carbon Reductive™. This we will do by helping them to invest in valid offsetting schemes that sequester CO2 in a short cycle. We believe that making the choice to go Carbon Reductive™ is more than just an act of altruism. With the right degree of perception and exposure it will generate better business as customers opt to purchase goods and services from companies that show they care about the environment and are something doing about it.
The success of schemes such as Fairtrade demonstrates that individuals and businesses are inclined to take a more ethical stance when the choices are communicated effectively. This is what the Carbon Reductive Company and the Green Town Revolution project intends to do.
